The Painting a Day Project

Cup and Saucer, 6x8, oil
from The Painting a Day Project

The genesis for my current Flower-a-Day Project came from a similar project I embarked on in the winter of 2005 called the Painting a Day Project. That project featured small paintings of everyday objects in either oil or casein paint. This week-end (since it raining again!!) I created a new blog to feature and sell those works. These are the works that will be featured in a Domino Magazine article in July/August. If you have moment please visit The Painting a Day Project. There's also a permanent link in the sidebar.

These little paintings are a great tool for the artist. They give an opportunity to sharpen skills, explore new techniques and mediums as well. They are are from "just practice", they often embody the best execution of a subject and display the artists best skills because that is exactly what the focus of the paintings is, the perfection of skills and expression.

These small format artworks are also great for those who would like to purchase original art. Their small size and price make them very attractive to both the new and seasoned collector.
Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful moms out there! Enjoy your day!
