Catmint is a close relative of catnip the stuff that makes normally docile, domesticated cats go wild. This beautiful plant has lovely grey-blue-green foliage that has the most delicious fragrance which is released everytime you touch it or brush up against it. It's not the sharp, crisp scent of peppermint it's more like a spicy/sweet wintergreen scent. It's amazingly easy to grow and blooms throughout the spring and summer. I started this plant from seed 8 years ago. I have other varieties also the most showy one being Six Hills Giant which grows to a large rounded clump 4 feet across and 2 1/2 feet high!
I was scheduled for a plein air sale/painting out event today and chose not to go because the weather was supposed to be rainy and it was very overcast and foggy this morning...but I see that Murphy's Law is again prevailing in my life the sun is out and it looks like a lovely day, so an opportunity was missed. Darn!~ But maybe a little plein air painting this afternoon??
