Resting Place Along the River

Resting Place Along the River, painting by Jan Blencowe

Resting Place Along the River, 14x18, oil

On a sultry summer day a quiet rest beneath the trees watching the boats passing along the river is a peaceful delight. This spot is the edge of an old cemetary that overlooks the river, a final resting place for many.

Departed To The Judgment
by Emily Dickinson.

Departed to the judgment,

A mighty afternoon;

Great clouds like ushers leaning,

Creation looking on.

The flesh surrendered,

cancelled

The bodiless begun;

Two worlds, like audiences, disperse

And leave the soul alone.

summer paintings are the best. Although i don't have summer here, i get to experience summer in so many paintings around this time of year

NO summer!! Hmmmmm...I hope you don't have winter year round! Of course summer has its drawbacks too, mosquitoes, gnats etc. humidity, sunburn. Actually I'm very thankful that I live somewhere the seasons change I love the variety to the landscape and the anticipation of what is to come. Thanks for stopping by!
