Where is winter??? I don't know and frankly I don't care LOL ! It was another amazingly, unseasonably warm day here in southern New England. This morning I took my dog to the park/beach for a very long walk. She walked, ran, jumped over fences, rolled in the dirt and sand, went in the water(several times at different spots including a pond, a stream, a puddle and the sound itself), dug a hole, met scores of other dogs and generally had a wonderful doggy time. I found the long walk positively rejuvenating, especially the part where I sat on a bench at the edge of the dunes, soaked in the sun and warmth while listening to the rhythmic sound of the waves. The highlight though was seeing two enormous blue heron fly into the pond, the sun was shining right on them as the flew and wow was their coloring ever beautiful. I also scoped out some new painting spots. I took the dog home, got some lunch and returned to the park to paint. It was a truly beautiful day and there were so many people enjoying the weather, biking, dog walking, strolling, flying kites, shooting off model rockets, horsebackriding, birdwatching, picnicing. It was really amazing what some sunshine and warm temperatures can do to lift folks spirits! Black ducks where my nearest companions today mucking about in the water and along the banks, they seemed to be enjoying the day too!

How much I enjoy reading of your beautiful day Jan. I especially like the part about the blue herons. We're experiencing the same holiday type atmosphere here in southern New Jersey. Lots of happy dogs too :) The joy shows in your paintings!
