Ok I'm back with the details!! I'm sure you'd never guess that all this color and brushwork was present by looking at the image of the whole painting. I have no idea why my camera wouldn't read all the variations of yellow, but it obviously didn't. There's a lesson here too, photos lie, they distort and generalize which is why I prefer to paint outdoors, actually looking at my subject in the bright light of day, rather than from a photo!!
