Orange Emperor Tulips, 20x24,oil/canvas
Windy weather has to be a plein air painter's worst foe. I don't mind the snow, cold, heat, humidity even a rain shower. But wind is the worst element of all, especially when working on a larger stretched canvas. So as the wind was whipping up outside yesterday I set up in the studio . The result is this piece painted directly from the set up. Orange is a luscious color but tricky to work with. It's amazing how much blue, blue/green you can add to orange and still have it read as orange to the viewers eye. I hope you enjoy this bold and elegant piece.
