Thanksgiving Day has come and gone now, but not the reasons or the need to be thankful, that should last the whole year through.

We are on the cusp of winter, an interesting time for plein air painters...

I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure in the landscape - the loneliness of it - the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it - the whole story doesn't show.- Andrew Wyeth

Christmastide is almost upon us a season of great joy and celebration, but not yet. Today is the first Sunday of Advent a season of longing, expectation and desire. With eager anticipating I look for the restoration of all things, the righting of all wrongs, the renewal of creation, the administration of perfect justice, the filling of the hungry, the liberation of the oppressed, the wiping away of tears, the comforting of the sorrowful. I look for "peace on earth and good will toward men".

With inward pain my heartstrings sound,

My soul dissolves away;

Dear Soverign, whirl the seasons round,

Dear Soverign whirl the seasons round,

And bring, and bring the promised day,

And bring the promised day.
