Farm Field
9x12, oil/linen panel
A beautiful day today! Sun, blue sky and a rich tapestry of autumn colors. The only problem was the wind that kept blowing my paintbox shut as I worked. The wind whipping through the tangle of tall, dried grasses at the edge of the field created a symphony of sounds, very earthy and pleasant.
Autumn
Summer's flurry of green is over,
Apples are ripe, mown is clover.
Colors, ablaze on mountains burn,
Smolder, and flame as the seasons turn.
Harvest moon comes up at dusk.
Gold as a pumpkin or corn in the husk.
But when she floats higher and shrinks in the night
Moon gleams with a promise cold and white.
