Autumn Medley
6x8
oil/canvas
After nine days of rain it was so nice to get out today to paint, despite the high winds. The autumn colors are just beginning to show themselves mostly in the brush and scrub of the sub-shrub layer below the mature trees. The poison ivy and wild grape vines are draped like colorful garlands throughout the trees. The sumac is turning a bright scarlet. There is still plenty of goldenrod and wild aster scattered about also. Colors and textures are plentiful and it's quite challenging to create the impression of all the complexity without trying to paint every leaf, twig and berry!!
