Hammonassett Memories,16x20, oil/canvas
Today the Tracy Art Center in Old Saybrook, CT had an opening reception for its new Faculty Art Exhibit. I teach various painting classes there and had four pieces in the show. On the spur of the moment Nancy Tracy, the founder and director of the center, asked me if I would do a painting demonstration. Fortunately, I had all my paints in the car from yesterday's outing. Since this was unplanned I thought it best to stick to a subject I know well, the saltmarsh. This is really just a variation on yesterday's painting, set in a more summery color scheme. It was lots of fun, especially since my mom was there and I don't think she's ever really seen me paint! My kids on the other hand who see me paint all the time took off to the sporting goods store while I demonstrated LOL!! So no plein air painting today, just as well the weather was crummy...but a nice opportunity to share the joy of art with folks.
